Wrestlers place at Danny Byron tourney

Twelve Camden County High boys wrestlers topped their divisions, and six others were runners-up last weekend at the Danny Byron Invitational in Kissimmee, Fla. At Osceola High, wrestlers competed in either Gold, White or Blue divisions over two days of tough competition.

Camden County High champion wrestler Bradley Patterson has more state gold in mind for his senior season. Wrestling at a Division I college has long been in his plans too, and the upperclassman has committed to Air Force to achieve that.

Clayton Simmer and Jack McNeil each won individually and swam on a winning relay as the Camden County High boys swimmers raced to first place at the Forsyth Central Holiday Splash Invitational last Saturday in Cumming.

Williams will catch passes for Georgia

After two seasons of towering over Region 1 secondaries, Elyiss Williams will test himself against the best of the Southeastern Conference with the Georgia Bulldogs. The Camden County tight end signed Wednesday, and was honored in a ceremony at the high school.

Cincinnati welcomes lineman Taylor

Zach Taylor believes the community vibe he found as a Camden County Wildcat will follow him to the University of Cincinnati. “Camden County, it’s like a family,” said the 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive tackle, who signed with the Big 12 school Wednesday morning in Kingsland.

Lady Wildcats trip Nease in tourney finale

Ty’Tionna Scott scored a game-high 16 points Nov. 27 as the Camden County High girls routed Nease, 45-25 in Jacksonville and improved to 4-1.  In the finale of the Insider Exposure Thanksgiving Classic at Bishop Snyder, the Lady Wildcats led 13-6, 28-12 and 41-14 after the first three quarters.
