Girls notch 14th, 15th victories

Wins over First Coast and Richmond Hill boosted the Camden County High girls to 15-6 ahead of two Region 1-6A games this weekend. Camden will host Valdosta Friday and visit Colquitt Saturday.

Boys top Richmond Hill, fall to First Coast

The Camden County boys hoopsters rebounded from a home loss last weekend to grab a Region 1-6A win Tuesday night at Richmond Hill. With the split, the Wildcats improved to 8-13 overall and 2-4 in region play. They will host Valdosta Friday and visit Colquitt Saturday.

CCHS swimmers combine for third at region meet

Clayton Simmer won two events and Carlos Barber another as the Camden County High boys and girls swim teams combined for third place Monday at the Region 1-6A meet in Baxley.

Experience returning for CCHS tennis

The Camden County High tennis program opens play next week with many returnees who helped the boys and girls both reach the state quarterfinals last spring. “It’s going to be really interesting to see what happens,” head coach Daniel Breag said.

Ten victories for CCHS at Appling meet

The boys and girls combined for first place, and Jack McNeil qualified for state while winning the 100 free last Friday at the Pirates off the Plank meet hosted by Appling County. McNeil prevailed in 51.21, one of 10 victories for Camden.

’Cats win 11th straight state duals title

New classification, same result. The Camden County High wrestlers capped their 11th straight state duals championship by beating host Buford, 43-26 last Saturday in the final of the 16-team Class 6A tournament.

Lowndes boys, girls sweep Camden in 1-6A hoops

The Lowndes boys and girls both pulled away in the third quarter to sweep visiting Camden County in a Region 1-6A hoops doubleheader last Friday. The Wildcat girls dropped to 13-6 overall and 3-2 in the region, and the boys to 7-12 and 1-4.

Swim ’Cats place second combined at Coffee meet

The Camden County High boys swimmers won six events, and the boys and girls placed second combined out of 12 schools last Saturday at the 21st annual Coffee Winter Invitational in Douglas.

Rifle ’Cats win fourth match, beat Brunswick

Shooting the four highest individual scores of the day, the Camden County High rifle team defeated host Brunswick, 1,158-1,111 last Thursday for its fourth win in four matches. Briana Dougherty set the pace at 293, followed by Skylar Sanford (292), Cheyenne Malone (287) and Brayden Ogden (286).
