Camden Middle eighth-grade gridders topple St. Marys

Touchdowns in the first two quarters and two more in the fourth sent the Camden Middle eighth-grade gridders over St. Marys, 30-0 Sept. 11 in Kingsland. Jaquan Mercer ran for two touchdowns and a two-point conversion, and Makhi Smith and Malek Smith each ran for a touchdown and a conversion.

’Cats strike early, often in fourth victory

The Wildcats’ first game in September closely resembled their three August contests.  Lots of points, many trips to the end zone, and another big win. A 62-6 stroll past visiting, overmatched Ribault last Friday put fifth-ranked Camden County 4-0 for the first time since 2019.

CCHS tops Long with three runs in ninth

A three-run ninth was the difference as the Camden County High softball team won 5-2 at Long County Sept. 4. Olivia Williams opened the Lady Wildcat ninth with a lined single up the middle, Addison Spencer was hit by a pitch, and Zoe Kohlmeier bunted for a hit.

CCHS spikers net five wins

The busy Camden County High volleyball team rolled up five wins between this week and last. On Monday, the Lady Wildcats edged host Colquitt, 27-25, 22-25, 15-13.

Camden runs 29th, 32nd in Carrollton race

Tackling the state meet course, the Camden County cross-country girls finished 29th and the boys 32nd last Saturday at the Carrollton Invite presented by OrthoWest. Marin Bograd placed 32nd individually for the girls, who closed with a 769 team score. The senior’s time was 20:34.

Point-a-minute ’Cats dominant in third victory

Adding to their early-season offensive riches, the Wildcat gridders kept visiting West Broward under pressure throughout a 52-29 triumph last Friday. Sixth-ranked Camden County (3-0) broke the 50-point mark for the third straight game under new head coach Travis Roland.

CCHS closes three-game region sweep

A dominant dubleheader win last Thursday at Valdosta boosted the Camden County softball squad to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in Region 1-6A. Camden breezed 15-4 and 16-0 to sweep the three-game series.

Runners are 16th, 23rd at Jekyll meet

The Camden County High girls cross-country team placed 16th overall and the boys 23rd last Saturday in the Jekyll Island Invitational.  “Jekyll is a tough course,” Camden coach Jason Konrad said. “It was still damp and muddy from the recent rainfall.
