Camden rifle team is second at GHSA finals

Camden County’s bid for a third straight Georgia High School Association championship fell shy by three skinny points last Saturday in Waycross. East Coweta posted a 2,323 combined tp runner-up Camden’s 2,320.

Three wins for girls netters, two for boys

The Camden County High girls netters won their 10th straight match and the boys registered their ninth victory Monday at Valdosta. CCHS and Glynn Academy played to a split last Thursday in Kingsland, and the Ware girls and boys were sent home with losses March 11.

Sweeps of Valdosta, Effingham boost ’Cat boys, girls to 7-1

Wins over Valdosta and Effingham last week pushed the Camden County High boys and girls soccer teams to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in Region 1-6A play. This week, both teams had matches Wednesday at Frederica Academy before returning home to meet region rival Tift Friday.

Valdosta sweeps Diamond ’Cats

The Diamond Wildcats’ second Region 1-6A series last week ended the same as the first: a sweep in the wrong direction. Valdosta did the damage this time.

Bograd first, Coleman third at Bob Hayes meet

Camden County High distance runner Marin Bograd won the 3,200 meters and was the 1,600 runner-up, and high jumper David Coleman had the highest boys placement with third last Saturday at the Bob Hayes Invitational in Jacksonville.

James ties for ninth, boys golfers are 13th at Lowndes tournament

R.J. James tied for ninth individually and the Camden County boys golfers placed 13th as a team Monday at the Viking Classic in Valdosta. The Wildcats posted a collective 333 at Kinderlou, with James shooting a 76.

Girls golfers trip Glynn, Frederica, Brunswick in St. Simons match

Georgia Blount fired a 37 Monday as the Camden County High girls golfers won a four-team match on St. Simons Island. Sadie Streit’s 49 and Alexis Faisst’s 51 also counted for the Lady Wildcats, whose 137 total bettered Glynn Academy (147), Frederica Academy (148) and Brunswick (160).

Gymcats place third in Carrollton

The Camden County Gymcats placed third in the Class 6A division last Friday at Carrollton. On the bars, vault, floor exercise and balance beam, Alyssa Thompson had marks of 8.0, 8.05, 8.3 and 7.2, and Jamie Walker 7.3, 7.95, 8.5 and 7.9.

’Cat netters are first, third at Lowndes tourney

The Camden County girls bounced two Region 1-6A rivals en route to first place, and the boys took third last weekend at the Viking Invitational tennis tournament in Valdosta.

NJROTC event readies rifle team for GHSA finals

Two rifle teams from Camden County High NJROTC shot last Friday at the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Georgia State Championship in Milledgeville, earning individual honors while also preparing for the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) finals set for Saturday.
