Boys golfers place second, fifth in tournaments

The Camden County High boys golfers followed up a fifth-place finish April 1 in Moultrie with a runner-up showing Monday at a Douglas tournament.  At Douglas Country Club, the Wildcats, led by Griffin Blount’s even-par 72, fired a 317 at the Neil Graham Invitational.

14 wins for Wildcats at Glynn track meet

Camden County track and field athletes rolled up 14 event wins, and three Wildcats won two events apiece March 29 at a meet in Brunswick. Rickey Williams and Deonte Cole triumphed twice each for the boys, and Marin Bograd won two for the girls.

Lowndes defeats CCHS twice in final 1-7A baseball series

Two losses to Lowndes last week closed the Diamond Wildcats’ Region 1-7A schedule. The results sent CCHS to 6-15 overall. Entering this week, Lowndes paced Region 1 at 8-0, followed by Valdosta (6-3), Colquitt (4-5), Richmond Hill (4-5) and Camden (1-10). The top four teams qualify for state.

The Camden County High rifle ’Cats chose a great time for their best score of the season.

Dudley signs to play basketball at Labette in Kansas

Camden County High student-athlete Alindria Dudley has a place to play her college basketball next year. At a March 29 signing ceremony, Dudley revealed she is heading from southeastern Georgia to southeastern Kansas to play at Labette College.

Fernandina, Wildcat netters divide matches

A singles sweep fueled the Camden County girls netters’ win last Thursday at Fernandina Beach, but the Pirate boys scuttled the ’Cats in the next-to-last matches of the regular season. The format of five singles and two doubles matches meant several Wildcats seeing court action in both formats.

CCHS sweeps Valdosta, seals third seeds for state 7A soccer tourney

Following a season-ending Region 1-7A sweep last Thursday at Valdosta, both the Camden County High boys and girls soccer teams will carry the region’s third seeds to the state Class 7A tournament.

Richmond Hill sweeps ’Cats in 1-7A baseball series

With the top four of five Region 1-7A teams making the state Class 7A baseball tournament, Camden County stood 1-8 in league play after losing three last week to Richmond Hill.  The Wildcats were limited to two runs and eight hits over the three games.

Wrestlers gain All-American recognition

Five Camden County wrestlers brought home All-American honors from the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) High School Nationals last Friday through Sunday in Virginia Beach, Va. The top eight finishers in each weight class earned All-American praise.

Camden places third at JROTC rifle nationals

The Camden County High Navy JROTC rifle team finished third overall and Jordan de Jesus first individually last Friday and Saturday at the National JROTC Championships in Camp Perry, Ohio.
