Wildcats paste Valdosta in 1-7A soccer twinbill

Valdosta was no match for Camden County on the soccer pitch last Friday, as CCHS netted two Region 1-7A shutout victories at Chris Gilman Stadium. The boys scored all of their goals in the second half of a 4-0 triumph, their first overall of the season.

Rifle ’Cats stay unbeaten, stop Beach

Firing their second-highest overall score, the Camden County High rifle ’Cats (8-0) moved within two wins of an undefeated regular season last Friday. The Wildcats outclassed visiting Beach, 1,173-921 behind four counting scores of 289 or better.

A Region 1-7A tournament loss Monday night at Richmond Hill sent the Camden County High girls hoopsters into early preparations for next season. Camden led in the fourth quarter, according to head coach Sharnesha Smith, but some late mistakes allowed Richmond Hill to escape, 45-43.

Wildcats cruise in baseball opener

Talon Daignault had two of Camden County’s eight hits, drove home a run and struck out eight over five innings Tuesday as the visiting Wildcats crushed Frederica Academy, 11-0 in their six-inning opener. Camden scored in the first, then sped away with three in the fifth and seven in the sixth.

Varsity Gymcats place second at opening meet

The Camden County High varsity Gymcats scored a second-place 105.0 and the junior varsity a 94.45 at their opening meet last Friday in McDonough.  Jennifer Tate won the varsity all-around at 36.3. She won both the floor exercise (9.5) and bars (9.2), shared third place on the vault (8.
