Brookwood girls topple CCHS in 7A tennis playoff

A 3-1 second-round Class 7A playoff loss Monday at Brookwood closed a 15-6 season for the Camden County High girls tennis squad. “As a coach, they have a very good bond as a team, and they just encouraged each other all season,” head coach Daniel Breag said.

The first serves were struck around 2 p.m. Tuesday as the Camden County High boys and girls tennis teams met visiting Westlake in opening-round state Class 7A matches. By 3:10 p.m., both Wildcat teams had advanced to the final 16.

A split last week with two Florida opponents included the Camden County baseball Wildcats’ seventh victory of the season. As of Tuesday, the Diamond ’Cats (7-15 overall) were working to reschedule a game with McIntosh County Academy, which was originally set for April 18 in Kingsland.

CCHS ousted from girls, boys state 7A soccer tournaments

Far away from home, Camden County High boys and girls soccer teams tumbled last week in their state Class 7A playoff openers. With four teams qualifying from each region, both CCHS teams were seeded third from Region 1, and both took on the runners-up from Region 2.

’Cat boys golfers close season with fifth-place area finish

The season closed Monday for the Camden County High boys golfers, who finished in a fifth-place tie at the nine-team area tournament in Carrollton.
