Wrestlers command top two places at Hamilton tourney

Dipping their toes in traditional competition, the Camden County High wrestlers placed first and second in the team standings last Saturday in the Port City Nigel Hamilton Memorial at Brunswick High.  The Wildcat A team won the 14-team pinfest with 266 points, 67 ahead of the B side.

Boys top Richmond Hill to join 1-7A lead, lose twice

The Camden County boys cagers netted an important Region 1-7A home triumph Tuesday and halted a three-game losing string. Following weekend losses to Brunswick and Colquitt, the latter a region defeat, CCHS got 23 points from Earl Murray and 16 from DeNigel Cooper Tuesday to beat Richmond Hill.

Youth movement afoot for Lady Wildcat soccer

A predictable follow-up to having a huge senior class one season is having a very young team the next. Such is the case this spring for Camden County High girls soccer coach Pam English in her 26th year directing the Lady Wildcats.

Rifle ’Cats win two, remain unbeaten

Two more lopsided wins last week put the Camden County High rifle ’Cats 5-0 ahead of their biggest challenge of the regular season. The Wildcats easily outshot host Bradwell Institute last Thursday 1,158-895, then outpointed Windsor Forest 1,152-1,070 in the home opener the next day.

Lady ’Cats fall to Colquitt, Brunswick, Richmond Hill

Following three defeats last week and Tuesday, the Lady Wildcat hoopsters will get a final shot for their first Region 1-7A win Friday at Lowndes, then visit Brunswick Saturday. The region tournament will be Feb. 13-17, with the No. 1 seed hosting the semifinals and finals.

The showcase Camden County High football fans enjoy on fall Friday nights doesn’t happen without many people behind the scenes to make everything go. The improvement from a 4-7 record to 8-4 also doesn’t materialize without the hard work of many both on and off the field.

Valdosta sweeps hoops twinbill from CCHS

Host Valdosta swept a Region 1-7A hoops doubleheader from Camden County last Friday, the boys reaching double overtime and the girls’ tussle a 30-point result. The Camden boys tumbled, 77-62 after being outscored 19-4 in the second extra period.
