Lady ’Cats tumble in opener

Taylor Rietveld notched a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds but the Lady Wildcat dribblers tumbled 61-52 in their opener last Friday at Orange Park, Fla.  Four of the junior’s rebounds were offensive, and she rejected four shots.

Quarterfinals at stake in CCHS-Grayson clash

The next obstacle for Camden County may be its most daunting yet, as the Wildcats visit Grayson Friday night with a Class 7A quarterfinal spot at stake. The Rams, the Region 4 champions, dismissed Hillgrove in the first round last Saturday as CCHS sent East Coweta home.

Swim ’Cats win Valdosta meet; relay team makes state

The Camden County High swimmers won seven events and qualified a boys freestyle relay quartet for state last Saturday while winning the Valdosta Wildcat Invitational.  Javier McClenic, Noah Corning, Clayton Simmer and William Sopp reached state in the 400-meter free relay, winning in 4:07.35.

East Coweta will be difficult first-round test

For the Wildcats, reaching the second round of the state Class 7A brackets means weathering an East Coweta attack with plenty of firepower. “They’ve got a really good football team,” CCHS head coach Jeff Herron said of the Indians, seeded third from Region 2. Kickoff will be 6:30 p.m.

CCHS hoopster Britt to play at Jacksonville

Asiana Britt has yet to play a game for the Lady Wildcat basketball squad, but first-year head coach Sharnesha Smith believes the newcomer can make a huge imprint before heading to college. Before suiting up for CCHS, the senior 5-foot-7 combo guard has already cemented her college home.
