Lady ’Cats hammer Valdosta, tumble to Glynn

Just before Hurricane Ian shut down classes for the rest of the week, the Lady softball Wildcats stormed past Valdosta, 19-1 Sept. 27 for their third win overall and second in Region 1-7A play. Olivia Douglas fired a three-inning no-hitter, striking out four and walking one.

Boomers make splash in Waycross

Six Camden Boomer swimmers joined competitors from three other regional teams Sept. 24 at the Okefenokee Aquatic Club Sprint Splash in Waycross. Alexia O’Neal, Mason Bellini, Finn Bellini and Jake Christiansen claimed first places for the Boomers at the YMCA of Waycross.

Runners eye state meet in Jefferson

Two recent meets in Ludowici have the Camden PSA cross-country runners prepped for the Georgia Recreation and Park Association championships Saturday in Jefferson. Five Camden entrants claimed first places last Saturday at Long County Middle School.

Region play remains after ’Cats coast, 47-6

With an off-week and the Region 1-7A schedule ahead, Camden County stayed on task last Friday night by throttling visiting Atlantic Coast, 47-6.  Impressively closing a four-game homestand, the Wildcats (4-2) enjoyed another fast start and followed a similar formula as their other three victories.

CCHS spikers fall in home, road matches

Mallory Ivey slapped seven kills over two matches but the Camden County High spikers tumbled to visiting West Nassau and Colquitt Sept. 20. Both matches were two sets. Ivey ripped five kills and notched two digs in the Lady Wildcats’ 25-19, 25-12 setback to the Florida visitors.

Late offense lifts Lady Wildcats over Lanier, 9-2

Doing most of their damage in the late innings, the Lady softball Wildcats stung 17 hits Monday to win a rematch with visiting Lanier County, 9-2. Trailing 2-1 after four innings, Camden County came alive for three runs in the fifth and five in the sixth.

Regional swimmers dive in at Boomer Down Under meet

Swimmers with the host Camden Boomers and Camden PSA Stingrays piled up first- and second-place finishes Sept. 17 at the Boomer Down Under meet. Eighty-seven swimmers from several regional clubs attended.
