Swim ’Cats roll past two foes in opening meet

The Camden County High swimming ’Cats delivered two state-qualifying times at their opening meet last Saturday, and a promising start for fourth-year coach Amber Brady.

CCHS finishes 28th, 29th at state 7A cross-country

Marin Bograd placed 41st and Reiley English 94th as Camden County High’s fastest girls and boys overall placers at the Class 7A cross-country meet last Friday in Carrollton. Bograd was timed in 21:25.57, and English in 18:46.26.

Home-field at stake as Wildcats host Lowndes

A state playoff berth won’t be in the balance Friday night when Camden County hosts Lowndes, but CCHS can nab a huge prize with a win. The Wildcats haven’t hosted a playoff game since 2015.

Wildcat cross-country runners make state cut

The Camden County High boys and girls cross-country teams both qualified for state with fourth-place overall finishes in the Region 1-7A meet Oct. 26 at Colquitt. Marin Bograd earned girls all-region honors for the second straight season with her fifth-place 20:59.1 time.

’Cats make statement, topple No. 4 Valdosta

Camden County High head coach Jeff Herron said last summer his team needed a signature win to try and get over the hump. If the Wildcats haven’t done that yet, they’re much closer after stunning fourth-ranked Valdosta, 17-14 last Friday in Kingsland.

Swimmer Simmer wins twice at Carey Hilliard’s meet in Savannah

Swimmer Clayton Simmer of the St. Marys Aquatic Club won two events last weekend at the Carey Hilliard’s Invitational last weekend in Savannah. Swimmers with the Camden Boomers also competed at the Chatham County Aquatic Center. Simmer won the boys 15-and-older 500-yard freestyle in 4:59.

Ugly first half spells trouble for Camden

Two weeks ago, Camden County opened its Region 1-7A schedule with a win.  Last Friday, Colquitt did too, at the Wildcats’ expense.

No letup for ’Cats with 8-0 Valdosta looming

The rigors of Region 1-7A football leave no time for dwelling on defeats. Following its first league setback last Friday, Camden County re-enters the 1-7A fray Friday night with visiting fourth-ranked Valdosta, which statistically has one of the finest defenses in any Georgia classification.
