Wildcat netters edge Richmond Hill, drop decisions to Colquitt

Four matches last week for the Camden County High netters resulted in four 3-2 scores, the Wildcats sweeping Richmond Hill and falling at Region 1-7A rival Colquitt. The girls stood 6-3 overall (2-3 region) and the boys 5-4 overall (4-1 region) going into this week’s play.

Hillgrove ousts CCHS from 7A state hoops

Hillgrove dismissed the Camden County girls and boys from the Class 7A state basketball playoffs last week. In first-round duels, the boys’ late-season offensive scuffles caught up with them in a 46-34 home loss Feb. 23, and the girls tumbled, 65-33 the previous night in Powder Springs.

Camden splits brief series with Grayson, bashes Brantley

Grayson ousted Camden County from the state Class 7A baseball playoffs last spring, and the schools didn’t take long getting reacquainted in 2022. The sides split two games last weekend in Kingsland, leaving the Wildcats 4-2 overall with four games left before the Region 1-7A schedule opens.

Wildcat rifle team breaks Ware’s win streak

With three individual scores of 291 or better, the Camden County High rifle team handed Ware its first loss in 178 regular-season matches Monday.

CCHS golfers finish seventh at Camden Classic

The Camden County High boys golf team followed a season-opening win Feb. 24 with a seventh-place finish two days later in the Camden Classic at Osprey Cove. Three Wildcats fired rounds in the 70s last Saturday, A.J. Corsi’s 74 the lowest in a 314 team tally.

Camden boys, girls netters ace Colquitt

A home sweep of Colquitt last Saturday kept the Camden County High boys tennis team unbeaten in Region 1-7A play and put the girls 5-2 overall. All the boys matches wrapped in straight sets.

Gym rolls with the punches; still boxing

After about a year at his new location in Kingsland, Steve Bell of World Class Boxing says the move has so far been a godsend. “Couldn’t get a better situation,” the coach said from his gym, located in a small plaza on Georgia Highway 40 about a mile west of downtown Kingsland.

CCHS wrestlers roll to Class 7A traditional title

Notching either first or second in half of the brackets, the Camden County High wrestlers turned the Class 7A state traditional last weekend into another scrum for second place.

Camden NJROTC rifle team wins national title

The Camden County High Navy JROTC rifle team beat teams from eight states to win the overall precision title last Friday and Saturday at the Navy Nationals in Anniston, Alabama.

First-round victories in the Region 1-7A tournament Tuesday at Colquitt County put the Camden County High girls and boys hoopsters within two wins of a league title.
