Camden High falls short at scrimmage

The weather radar a few hours before Camden County High’s scrimmage on Friday looked stormy, but it luckily didn’t happen to stay as the sky cleared, and the game began on time. The first two quarters pitted Camden against Cairo. The last two were against homestanding Valdosta.
Currently housed in a converted basketball gym, the gymnastics program is anticipating the construction of a new facility dedicated to gymnastics and cheer classes and team formation.

Success, increased demand lead to gymnastics expansion

The Camden Public Service Authority gymnastics program has outgrown its humble beginnings in a made-over basketball gym. Trophies and banners attest to the program’s growth and success, both of which are factors in the need for a new building.

Camden PSA offers football, cheerleading signups

The Camden Public Service Authority (PSA), which oversees countywide recreation programs, facilities and parks, recently opened registration for the fall season of football and cheerleading. Deadline for signing up is Aug.

Camden runners set state records

By Rodney Kirkpatrick In their first performance at the state track and field championships in late April, athletes on the PSA track team were nothing less than spectacular with 23 firsts, 13 seconds and 10 third-place finishes, along with breaking two state records.

Boxing club working to open new gym

World Class Boxing Club is breaking ties with the local recreation authority after the portable trailer it had used for several years was deemed unsafe.   However, Coach Steve Bell said it was probably a blessing in disguise because it is going to allow them to expand in ways they could not before.
