Getting goals from five players and locking down defensively, the Camden County High boys soccer Wildcats silenced visiting Frederica Academy, 5-0 for their third win March 15. “Looking at the tape, they’ve got a pretty good team,” CCHS head coach Rob Gabriel said.

The Camden County High rifle ’Cats polished off an 11-0 regular season and the Area 3 title last week by beating Benedictine and Glynn Academy. Last Thursday at Benedictine, CCHS had the six best individual scores in a 1,153-1,084 triumph.

’Cat bats fall silent in non-region defeats

Following a recent stretch of three straight outings with double-digit runs, the Camden County High bats were silenced in two non-region shutout losses last week. Defeats to Brunswick March 1 and Savannah Christian last Friday sent the Wildcats to 4-4.

The Camden Middle School boys basketball Cougars won the Coastal Georgia Middle School Conference title March 2 by edging Glynn Middle, 45-41 at Brunswick High School. CMS trailed, 15-4 and 25-22 after the first two quarters, and pulled even, 31-31, by the end of the third.

The Camden County High rifle ’Cats stayed unbeaten lat Friday, turning back visiting Southeast Bulloch by a 1,147-1,119 count. Camden’s Jordan de Jesus shot a match-best 292, with a 100 from the kneeling position added to 96s for both prone and standing.

Four matches last week for the Camden County High netters resulted in four 3-2 scores, the Wildcats sweeping Richmond Hill and falling at Region 1-7A rival Colquitt. The girls stood 6-3 overall (2-3 region) and the boys 5-4 overall (4-1 region) going into this week’s play.

Hillgrove ousts CCHS from 7A state hoops

Hillgrove dismissed the Camden County girls and boys from the Class 7A state basketball playoffs last week. In first-round duels, the boys’ late-season offensive scuffles caught up with them in a 46-34 home loss Feb. 23, and the girls tumbled, 65-33 the previous night in Powder Springs.

Grayson ousted Camden County from the state Class 7A baseball playoffs last spring, and the schools didn’t take long getting reacquainted in 2022. The sides split two games last weekend in Kingsland, leaving the Wildcats 4-2 overall with four games left before the Region 1-7A schedule opens.
