CCHS 2022 football schedule has seven home games

Seven home games highlight the 2022 Camden County High varsity football schedule, with some familiar rivals and three first-time opponents from Florida. The season opener will be Friday, Aug. 19, against Region 6-AA Columbia of Decatur at Chris Gilman Stadium.

Diamond ’Cats seek first region win

A home doubleheader with Tift will be the next chance for the Camden County High baseball Wildcats to get their first Region 1-7A victory. Camden followed a March 18 doubleheader loss at Colquitt (8-3 and 5-4) by falling twice Monday at Lowndes, (9-3 and 9-1).

Wildcat tennis teams bounce Tift, Bishop Kenny

Two wins Monday and last week elevated the Camden County High girls tennis team to 8-3 overall and the boys 7-4. Last Friday, the Wildcat boys and girls aced visiting Tift in Region 1-7A action, putting the boys 5-1 in league matches and the girls 3-3.

Second-half blitz highlights Wildcat boys’ soccer triumph

Getting goals from five players and locking down defensively, the Camden County High boys soccer Wildcats silenced visiting Frederica Academy, 5-0 for their third win March 15. “Looking at the tape, they’ve got a pretty good team,” CCHS head coach Rob Gabriel said.

CCHS rifle team captures area title, eyes state

The Camden County High rifle ’Cats polished off an 11-0 regular season and the Area 3 title last week by beating Benedictine and Glynn Academy. Last Thursday at Benedictine, CCHS had the six best individual scores in a 1,153-1,084 triumph.

CCHS gymnasts bring home firsts from Jones meet

A 102.35 overall score put the Camden County High varsity gymnasts first overall last Saturday at the Jones County Invitational. Jennifer Tate won the all-around, helped by wins on the vault (9.0), balance beam (9.2) and floor exercise (9.2), and a second on the bars (8.5). First on the bars (8.

’Cat bats fall silent in non-region defeats

Following a recent stretch of three straight outings with double-digit runs, the Camden County High bats were silenced in two non-region shutout losses last week. Defeats to Brunswick March 1 and Savannah Christian last Friday sent the Wildcats to 4-4.

CMS boys win Coastal Georgia hoops championship

The Camden Middle School boys basketball Cougars won the Coastal Georgia Middle School Conference title March 2 by edging Glynn Middle, 45-41 at Brunswick High School. CMS trailed, 15-4 and 25-22 after the first two quarters, and pulled even, 31-31, by the end of the third.

Wildcat rifle team remains unbeaten

The Camden County High rifle ’Cats stayed unbeaten lat Friday, turning back visiting Southeast Bulloch by a 1,147-1,119 count. Camden’s Jordan de Jesus shot a match-best 292, with a 100 from the kneeling position added to 96s for both prone and standing.

CCHS girls soccer takes two of three; boys stuck on two wins

Recent visits from Lowndes and Colquitt resulted in Region 1-7A splits for the Camden County High boys and girls soccer teams. CCHS continues region play Friday at home against Tift, then travels to Colquitt March 18.
