Atlantic Coast has Wildcats’ full attention

Colquitt, Lanier upend Lady softball Wildcats

The Lady softball Wildcats remained searching for their second win, following a three-game Region 1-7A sweep at Colquitt’s hands last week, and a non-region defeat Monday at Lanier County. Colquitt won the series opener Sept. 13 in Kingsland, then took a doubleheader last Thursday in Moultrie.

Somerset air attack should test Wildcats

A contrast of styles should play out Friday night in Kingsland as the Wildcats entertain pass-happy Somerset Academy of south Florida. “They’re 3-1 and they’ve scored a lot of points,” CCHS head coach Jeff Herron said of the 44-strong Panthers, based in Pembroke Pines, near Miami.

Lady softball ’Cats split twinbill with Richmond Hill

A doubleheader split Sept. 7 with Richmond Hill brought the Lady softball Wildcats their first overall and first Region 1-7A victory. Camden County was slated to host Colquitt Tuesday, Sept. 13, in the first of a three-game Region 1-7A series which concludes today with a doubleheader in Moultrie.

Dominant ’Cats gash Glynn for first victory

Their message loud and clear, the Wildcat gridders took a bold step last Friday to get their season on track. The frustrations from two close losses evaporated, as the Wildcats got points from the offense, defense and special teams while crushing rival Glynn Academy, 37-7 at Chris Gilman Stadium.

Bograd eighth, CCHS 15th and 16th at Jekyll Island

Marin Bograd garnered the highest individual placement for either the Camden County High girls or boys cross-country teams last Saturday at the Jekyll Island Invitational. Among 133 girls posting times, Bograd took eighth in 21:05.

Weather a stout foe for CCHS softball

Through the season’s early stages, the weather has perhaps been the Lady softball Wildcats’ toughest opponent. Last week, Camden County only got in a 4-3 Region 1-7A loss Aug. 30 at Richmond Hill.

Brunswick keeps ’Cats searching for first win

One play shy again. The Wildcats’ late fourth-quarter bid in Brunswick expired on downs last Friday night, as the host Pirates escaped, 16-10 at Glynn County Stadium. Camden, which led by three starting the fourth quarter, fell to 0-2, and Brunswick rose to 2-0.
