Swim ’Cats roll past two foes in opening meet

The Camden County High swimming ’Cats delivered two state-qualifying times at their opening meet last Saturday, and a promising start for fourth-year coach Amber Brady.

Wildcat cross-country runners make state cut

The Camden County High boys and girls cross-country teams both qualified for state with fourth-place overall finishes in the Region 1-7A meet Oct. 26 at Colquitt. Marin Bograd earned girls all-region honors for the second straight season with her fifth-place 20:59.1 time.

’Cats make statement, topple No. 4 Valdosta

Camden County High head coach Jeff Herron said last summer his team needed a signature win to try and get over the hump. If the Wildcats haven’t done that yet, they’re much closer after stunning fourth-ranked Valdosta, 17-14 last Friday in Kingsland.

The rigors of Region 1-7A football leave no time for dwelling on defeats. Following its first league setback last Friday, Camden County re-enters the 1-7A fray Friday night with visiting fourth-ranked Valdosta, which statistically has one of the finest defenses in any Georgia classification.
