Elections board rejects challenge of 205 voters

The Camden County Board of Elections on Monday rejected a challenge of 205 people who are listed on the Camden County voter rolls.  The complaint follows a statewide pattern of similar challenges in other Georgia counties that has been assisted by the Texas organization True the Vote.

CCSO drops charge in death investigation

After wrapping up its investigation, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office has dropped an aggravated assault charge against a Waverly man, who was also accidentally booked for murder. All charges have been dismissed.

Kingsland sets special election

Kingsland City Council has set a date for a special election in March to fill the Post 3 council seat vacated when LaMar Stokes resigned in late September. The city had to wait to set an election date until the state released the 2021 election dates. The Kingsland special election will be March 16.

Health district receives first COVID-19 vaccines

The first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived this week in the Coastal Health District, including Camden County, and frontline workers have begun receiving the vaccine. The district was the first in Georgia to get and give the vaccine, which isn’t available to the public yet.

Voters line up early in Camden

Early voting for Georgia’s Jan. 5 runoff election got off to a brisk start this week in Camden County.   County election superintendent Shannon Nettles said opening day on Monday outpaced the numbers they saw in October and November during the general election.
