Commissioners opt to manage range without sheriff

The Camden County Board of Commissioners has agreed to operate the recreational shooting complex as a department of the county government, instead of contracting with the sheriff or an outside management firm.  The board voted at a teleconferenced meeting on Tuesday in favor of the measure 4-1.

Kingsland residents defeat rezoning request

Kingsland Planning Commission upheld the concerns of nearby neighbors and dashed the hopes of a commercial developer this week. Representatives for Dollar General had asked to re-zone the wooded corner of North Grove at Five Points on Highway 40 to build a new store.

Woman arrested for pointing gun at assessor

A St. Marys woman is facing three felony charges after a county assessor called 911 last week and said she pointed a gun at him, took his phone and told him to leave. She called 911, too, saying that there was a man in front of her house who wouldn’t leave. St.

Senior Care Center deals with outbreak among residents, staff

Southeast Georgia Health System has been dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys that has affected dozens of residents and staff.    Through early June, there were only four positive COVID-19 cases at the facility and only one requiring hospitalization.

Camden makes final push on census
