A love for reading and books – and a desire to help students and teachers – has led Megan Wilson to what she hopes is her forever home in education. Wilson, 35, is a media specialist at Camden County High School. In March, she was named Camden County Schools’ media specialist of the year.

Kingsland police officer resigns after crash

Michael Allen Leach, a school resource officer with Kingsland Police Department, resigned in-lieu of termination March 29, after he crashed his police car and tested positive for alcohol, according to a news release from the law enforcement agency. He has not been arrested or criminally charged.

St. Marys hires experienced community development director

St. Marys City Council added its final member to its legislative body, and the council approved a new community development director Monday during its regularly scheduled meeting. Chad Ingram was sworn in by Deputy City Clerk Priscilla Mejia before the meeting began.

Former St. Marys mayor dies at 72

Deborah Wooten Watts Hase, 72, a longtime public servant of St. Marys in multiple roles, died Sunday at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta. During her time in St. Marys, she served in many capacities, culminating in one term as mayor (2002-05) and one term as a city councilwoman (2008-11).
