Promising start for Wildcat swimmers at Ware meet

For a program seeking more state qualifiers, the Camden County High swimmers’ first performances last Thursday were a very positive step. Five event wins pushed the boys to team honors, and the girls were runners-up at the season-opening Ware Spooktacular Invitational in Waycross.

Camden team wins precision rifle match

The Camden County High team of Jordan de Jesus, Virginia Byrd, Skylar Sanford and Cheyenne Malone won the first NJROTC-sanctioned rifle match hosted by the program last Saturday at the Ware rifle complex.

Camden softball exits 7A state super-regional

The Camden County High softball Lady Wildcats closed 12-14 after falling 13-2 to Grayson in a Class 7A super-regional Oct. 17 at North Paulding.  Seeded third from Region 1, Camden opened the four-team, double-elimination shootout Oct.

Little letup for Camden in tough region duel at Valdosta

The perils of Region 1-7A football don’t leave any time to dwell on defeats. The Wildcats (6-2 overall, 1-1 region) can’t take long to shrug off last week’s home loss to rival Colquitt. A significant region road trip looms Friday to Valdosta (6-2 overall), which has won its first two 1-7A games.

’Cat boys runners first, girls second in region tuneup

In their last tuneup before the Region 1-7A meet next week, the Wildcat boys cross-country runners were first and the girls second in three-team races last Thursday at Ware.  Asher Bograd (19:04) won boys individual honors for Camden, and Marin Bograd (21:16) did likewise for the girls.

’Cats roar back late to win 1-7A opener

For everything that could have sunk Camden County’s chances in the Region 1-7A opener last Friday, the Wildcats’ big-play ability wouldn’t let that happen. Head coach Jeff Herron conceded his team’s gripping 35-33 decision over visiting Richmond Hill wasn’t a work of art.
