’Cats surge in second half, win opener

Like last season, Camden County trailed visiting Columbia at halftime last Friday.  This time, the second-half script in the opener played out much better.   Trailing 6-0 at the break, Wildcat head coach Jeff Herron knew “we were down just one play.

Four wins in Valdosta push spikers to 5-1 mark

A 4-0 blitz through a Valdosta tournament last Saturday carried the Camden County High spikers to a 5-1 record. The Lady Wildcats bounced back smartly from a narrow, two-set home defeat last Thursday to Brunswick to beat Brooks County, Brantley County, Thomasville and Perry, all in two-set finals.

’Cat runners second, third at Bradwell

Marin Bograd won the overall girls race and the Camden County cross-country boys placed second last Thursday at the Bradwell Institute Tiger Invitational in Hinesville. Bograd’s 22:23 was more than a minute-and-a-half faster than the runner-up, Ryan Buford of Trinity Christian (24:10).

Arena title game has Wildcat feel: Johnson, Poole, Green play in NAL championship showdown

As Sharks and Cobras jousted for a football championship last Saturday, three Wildcats had some say in which team hoisted it. The National Arena League (NAL) title game last Saturday in Jacksonville boasted a distinct Camden County High flavor.

CCHS softball batters Bradwell, Charlton

The Lady softball Wildcats poured on the offense to win their first two contests handily, both in Kingsland. “We have had a really good offensive outing between the last two games,” Camden County head coach Kayla Miller said after an 11-3 rout of Charlton Aug.

Camden spikers dispatch Frederica in opener

The Camden County Lady volleyball ’Cats opened their season with a win Monday, ripping 25 kills and nine aces to dismiss Frederica Academy, 25-17, 25-21 in Kingsland. Freshmen paced Camden in kills, assists, aces and digs.

Ashley Ridge visits Wildcats for scrimmage

After making the 400-mile round trip for last year’s preseason scrimmage, the Wildcats welcome Ashley Ridge High of Summerville, S.C., for a return matchup and a Friday night dress rehearsal at Chris Gilman Stadium.
