Search begins for new CCHS boys hoops head coach

With Billy Moore moving to an assistant principal post at Camden County High, the school is looking for his successor as boys basketball head coach. The CCHS mainstay guided the Wildcats to region championships in 2016 and 2020 and about 150 wins over his 11 seasons on the sidelines.

Key summer is under way for Lady ’Cat softball

Time is much more on the side of Camden County High head softball coach Kayla Miller this summer. In her second season leading the program, Miller has more breathing room between June and July as the Lady Wildcats prepare for the season opener Aug. 9 against visiting Charlton.

Camden softball brings home district crown

Camden County won the District 2 girls 12-U live pitch softball championship Monday in Waycross and has advanced to the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) Class A/B state tournament next week in Statesboro.

Wildcat girls place seventh at 7A golf tourney

The Camden County High girls golfers placed seventh as a team and Georgia Blount second individually this week at the Georgia High School Association Class 7A state tournament in Moultrie. Weather at Sunset Country Club cut the scheduled 36-hole tournament to 18.

Bryant takes over as CCHS head baseball coach

Camden County High has stayed within the school system for its new head baseball coach, as former assistant Ladonis Bryant was announced last week for the position. “I’m excited to teach the kids the game of baseball,” he said. “I feel the talent is there. I’m excited to put it all together.

Lady ’Cat hoopsters face key summer

Last year at this time, Sharnesha Smith was getting to know her new players after being named the Camden County High girls basketball head coach. With a full season behind them, Smith and the Lady Wildcats tackle a hectic June with trips to Atlanta and Jacksonville and several spots in between.

Sopp is named new head swim coach at CCHS

After serving as an assistant the last four seasons, Danielle Sopp has become the new head coach of the Camden County High swimmers.  “There is more responsibility on me,” said Sopp, who accepted the job May 17. “You’ve got to organize everything and help keep the swim program going.
