Camden hit an unwelcome milestone this week, recording its 200th coronavirus case on Monday. The total confirmed case count now stands at 233 as of 3 p.m. Wednesday. This doesn’t mean that 233 people are currently infected because the total number includes every reported case since March.

Couple in jail after child hurt

A 2-year-old boy was hospitalized over the weekend with severe injuries that led to the arrest of his mother and her fiancé on allegations of child abuse.  Dakota Danielle Poturich, 21, and Christopher Allen Miller, 32, were arrested July 5 for first-degree cruelty to a child for withholding food.

Shannon Herrin didn’t even think about it. He heard someone yell, “Help them! Help them!” He looked. Two men and a young boy were in the river, shocked to suddenly be in the water and struggling to stay afloat as the tide pulled them out. “I didn’t even think to grab a life jacket,” Shannon said.

City closes senior center until 2021 because of virus

With coronavirus still circulating, the St. Marys Senior Center has been closed for the rest of the year to help protect members from possible exposure. The closure is not permanent. “We understand the importance of the center,” city manager Robby Horton said last week.
