GBI investigating fatal officer-involved shooting

GBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting today that happened last night in Kingsland at a Gross Road apartment. A Kingsland police officer shot and killed a man who was threatening a woman with a knife.  Kingsland officers responded at 10:49 p.m.

Residents qualify for council elections

Qualifying for city council elections opened Monday morning and continues through Friday afternoon. Up for election on the November ballot are council posts 1 and 2 in Kingsland, council posts 4, 5 and 6 in St. Marys and the mayor’s seat in St. Marys.

Georgia State Patrol troopers are continuing to investigate the July accident that killed a Brunswick woman on St. Marys Road. Michelle Volpe, 26, and her dog were pronounced dead at the scene after the July 12 collision.

GBI serves search warrant in murder case

GBI agents searched the home of a Brantley County man last week as they continue investigating a 1985 murder case that has been reopened. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been re-examining the murders of Harold and Thelma Swain and looking at Erik Sparre as a possible suspect.

By the first day of school on Tuesday, rumor had it that a teacher had already tested positive for COVID-19 and may have exposed other staff who had contact with students. Camden County Schools won't say whether that’s true or not — and neither can the health department.
