CCHS girls edged in 6A soccer playoff

After conceding an early goal Tuesday, the Lady soccer Wildcats never caught up as their season concluded. A first-round Class 6A playoff collision went Cherokee’s way at Chris Gilman Stadium, Bailey Vinette scoring in both halves to offset Kaitlyn Grooms’ goal in a 2-1 decision.

Garrett finds ideal fit at Georgia Tech

An opportunity Sarah Garrett didn’t think was possible a year ago came to fruition Monday. The Camden County High student signed to cheer at Georgia Tech, where she can both advance her academic interests and boost morale for the Yellow Jackets’ football and basketball programs.

CCHS girls golfers advance to sectionals

The Camden County HIgh girls golfers progressed to sectionals with their fourth-place finish Monday at the Area 1-6A tournament in Tifton. With the best three scores counting, CCHS shot a 278 aggregate at Spring Hills Country Club.

Eight win for CCHS at Ware track and field meet

Eight athletes won events as the Camden County High boys track and field team was first and the girls second last Thursday at Ware. Daniel McGuirt, Will Smith, Antwan Williams, Ashton Conway and Cayden Driggers won for the boys, who also captured two relays and finished with 239 points.

Camden boys, girls sweep Frederica on Senior Night

Camden County High soccer celebrated Senior Night Monday by sweeping Frederica Academy, the girls winning in penalty kicks and the boys producing another shutout. The girls won their fifth straight to move to 14-2, and the boys their third consecutive to rise to 13-3.

PSA track and field athletes clean up at district meet

Camden County PSA lapped the field at the Georgia Recreation and Park Association Class B/C District 2 track and field meet last Friday and Saturday in Kingsland.  Camden’s runners, jumpers and throwers won 47 events, including 11 relays, at the Camden County High track oval.

Gymcats are second in Cartersville meet

Alyssa Thompson was the vault runner-up and the Camden County High Gymcats were second overall as a team last Saturday in Cartersville.  Thompson earned a state-qualifying 9.4 vault mark, and Jamie Walker (32.85) and Eliana Wallace (32.
