Varsity, JV Gymcats first in weekend meets

Last weekend was a busy one for the Camden County High gymnasts, with meets in Milledgeville and McDonough. The varsity and junior varsity Gymcats placed first with team scores of 95.375 and 88.975 last Saturday in Milledgeville.

CCHS splits 1-7A soccer openers at Lowndes

Camden County split its Region 1-7A soccer openers last Friday at Lowndes, the boys making one goal stand up and the girls tumbling, 4-1. Elijah Rose scored, assisted by Gabe Groomes, for a road win that leveled the boys’ overall record at 2-2.

First tournament is Saturday for ’Cat boys golfers

The season begins in earnest this week for the Camden County High boys golfers, with an opening match Thursday locally and the first of several tournaments on Saturday.  The Wildcats will host Brunswick Thursday at Osprey Cove, which is also the site of the Camden Classic this weekend.

CCHS baseball falls in opener to Savannah Country Day

A six-run first inning spelled immediate trouble for visiting Camden County last Thursday in a five-inning 11-1 opening loss at Savannah Country Day. Carter Hickox had one of the Wildcats’ three hits and drove in Elijah Cox (steal) with the lone run in the fifth.

CCHS gridders honored on National Signing Day

Normally, Camden County High School holds athlete scholarship signings in a lecture hall next to the athletic offices. A special addition to National Signing Day Feb. 7, however, required the CCHS auditorium, a bigger venue filled every bit as much with heart, inspiration and optimism.

’Cat wrestlers blitz through sectionals, eye 7A traditional

All 14 Camden County High wrestlers qualified for the Class 7A state traditional tournament after recording top-six finishes at sectionals last Saturday in Valdosta.  “It went well,” head coach Jess Wilder said Monday as his team prepares for its latest state title defense. “We were happy overall.
