’Cats swim to second overall in Douglas

Javier McClenic added to his state qualifications, Carlos Barber met a state standard, and the Camden County High boys and girls swimmers placed second combined last Saturday at the 20th annual Coffee Winter Invitational in Douglas.

Wildcat boys win 12th, crush Baker County

The Camden County boys hoopsters put four in double figures and dunked host Baker County, Fla., 73-21 last Friday to move to 12-2 for the season. In a one-sided battle of Wildcats, visiting Camden’s 9-6 lead after a quarter ballooned to 35-13 and 57-17 after the third and fourth.

Paxon trips Lady ’Cats on late three

The Lady Wildcats stood about a half-minute from their 15th victory last Saturday afternoon, only for visiting Paxon to claim a 46-45 verdict. In a thriller neither side led by more than six, the Jacksonville visitors had the final say on Ansley Hicks’ three-pointer with 32 seconds left.

St. Marys Middle sweeps basketball doubleheader at CMS

The St. Marys Middle boys and girls basketball teams both built early leads and stayed in front in a doubleheader sweep last Thursday at Camden Middle. The Lady Bobcats got points from eight players in a 29-13 win, and Demarcus Revels scored 23 points in the boys’ 55-38 triumph.

CCHS tops Southeast Bulloch in rifle opener

The Camden County High rifle team launched the Georgia High School Association portion of its schedule by thumping visiting Southeast Bulloch, 1,166-1,053 last Friday. The Wildcats posted the four highest individual scores of the day.

State championship defense in sights for CCHS riflery

The aim was true for the Camden County rifle Wildcats all last season, and their quest to defend the Georgia High School Association crown begins this week.  Camden has a mix of experience and youth taking the range for its title pursuit against a capable list of contenders.
