Boys netters win three; girls get first victory

Three matches between Monday and last week meant three wins for the Camden County High boys tennis ’Cats, and a victory, loss and a rare tie for the girls. Camden swept host Savannah Christian Feb. 7, then split the Region 1-7A openers last Friday with visiting Lowndes.

Taylor, Henson win twice for CCHS track and field in opener

Marco Henson and Zachary Taylor won two events each for the Camden County High boys track and field team, and Gabriella Hanson was second in two sprints for the girls last Saturday at the season-opening Valdosta Wildcat Invitational.

CCHS girls pile up 16 goals in soccer routs; boys top Ware, fall twice

The Lady soccer Wildcats stormed out of the starting gates with 16 goals in two blowouts last week, while the boys followed a home shutout victory with two close road defeats. Both of the girls’ wins were 8-0 runaways, in an opening doubleheader Feb.

’Cat wrestlers romp to 1-7A traditional crown

Wrestlers at the Region 1-7A traditional tournament at Lowndes last Saturday needed a top-four finish in their weight classes to progress to sectionals. If a top-two placement was required, Camden County still would have qualified at all 14 weights.

Camden, Valdosta split key region hoops twinbill

The battle for the top seeds and home-court advantage for both the boys and girls Region 1-7A basketball tournaments continued after Camden County’s home split with Valdosta last Saturday. The No. 1 boys seed hosts the boys tourney, and the top girls seed hosts the girls tourney.

CCHS Gymcats win opening meet

Alyssa Thompson placed second in the all-around and Jamie Walker third as the Camden County High Gymcats won their opening meet last Saturday in Milledgeville.  CCHS posted a 97 team score as Thompson was the runner-up for both the bars (8.0) and vault (8.5). She also got a 7.

CCHS track and field opens season Saturday

Participation hovers around triple figures for the Camden County High track and field program, taking the starting blocks under first-year head coach Bill Forman.  “Early in the season, all we’re trying to do is build a foundation,” he said. “I love the way they work.

Wildcat boys stay unbeaten in 1-7A play

The Camden County boys hoopsters followed up a loss in Florida last week with two lopsided Region 1-7A road wins that kept them undefeated in league play. The Wildcats stood 18-5 overall and stayed atop the 1-7A standings (6-0) after wins at Colquitt last Friday and at Richmond Hill Tuesday.

Camden girls go to 19-4 with two victories

Two Region 1-7A road wins boosted the Lady Wildcat dribblers to 19-4 overall, and kept them squarely in the hunt for the league tournament’s No. 1 seed. Camden gutted out an overtime win at Colquitt last Friday, then prevailed again Tuesday at Richmond Hill.

CCHS sharpshooters win area NJROTC title, stay perfect in GHSA regular season

The Camden County High rifle team posted three of the top five individual scores and captured its fifth straight NJROTC Area 12 Marksmanship Championship last weekend in Anniston, Ala.  “I can’t tell you how proud I am of this team,” coach Stephen Banta said.
