Wildcat boys stay unbeaten in 1-7A play

The Camden County boys hoopsters followed up a loss in Florida last week with two lopsided Region 1-7A road wins that kept them undefeated in league play. The Wildcats stood 18-5 overall and stayed atop the 1-7A standings (6-0) after wins at Colquitt last Friday and at Richmond Hill Tuesday.

Camden girls go to 19-4 with two victories

Two Region 1-7A road wins boosted the Lady Wildcat dribblers to 19-4 overall, and kept them squarely in the hunt for the league tournament’s No. 1 seed. Camden gutted out an overtime win at Colquitt last Friday, then prevailed again Tuesday at Richmond Hill.

Barber, girls relay team make cut for state swim meet

Camden County High swimmer Carlos Barber qualified for state in the 50 free and a girls relay team did also in the 200 free last Saturday at the Last Chance meet in Douglas. At South Georgia State College, Barber won the 50 free in 23.46, just under the 23.5 state benchmark.

CCHS gymnasts begin season Saturday

On the heels of the program’s first-ever team qualification for the state meet, Camden County High gymnastics starts the season Saturday with a youthful and upwardly mobile cast. “My team is extremely young,” said Catherine Cook, Camden’s coach since the 2018-19 season.

Ballpark renovations part of CCHS baseball makeover

Camden County High baseball is undergoing an extreme makeover in its quest to return to the state Class 7A playoff party. LaDonis Bryant was brought on as head coach in May, and the Wildcat ballpark is getting a facelift complete with a turf playing surface plus other interior and exterior touches.
