Boys beat Frederica, Valdosta; girls get 1-7A win

Both Camden County High soccer teams stood 6-4 overall after the boys won two of three and the girls lost two of three between this week and last. A trip to Valdosta last Friday was a CCHS sweep, and a Tuesday home doubleheader with Frederica Academy resulted in a split.

Gymcats take third place in McDonough

A 92 team score put the Camden County High gymnasts third out of eight teams last Saturday in McDonough. Blake Giesbrecht placed third in the vault with a 8.7 mark, and Addi Spencer third in the floor exercise (8.225). Spencer also scored 8.55 for the vault, and Giesbrecht 7.55 for the floor and 7.

’Cat boys golfers beat Ware by 11

After falling by one shot in their previous meeting with Ware, the Camden County High golfers turned the tables with a 152-163 triumph last Thursday at Laurel Island Links.  Griffin Blount fired a match-best 33 for CCHS, and Grayson Blount a 38. Filling out the team score were R.J.

Camden boys, girls race to first at Glynn track and field meet

The Camden County High track and field teams cleaned up with 21 event wins last Thursday in a quad meet with host Glynn Academy, Brantley and Clinch County.  Akeelah Bryan and Marin Bograd won two events each for the girls, as did Zachary Taylor and Rickey Williams for the boys.

Camden welcomes Roland

The expectations for Camden County High football have always been high, and new head coach Travis Roland is ready to tackle them head-on. One day after being approved as Jeff Herron’s successor by the school board, Roland was introduced last Thursday in a meet-and-greet at the CCHS auditorium.

A four-year starter for the Camden County High softball program, Khrysta Jordan is continuing her diamond pursuits nearby at the College of Coastal Georgia after signing with the school Monday morning.

Camden boys net state 17-U basketball title

The Camden County 17-U boys basketball squad captured the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) state Class B championship last Saturday at Effingham County High School.  Camden defeated host Effingham, 75-55 in the first round, then edged Jones County, 61-53 in the final.

Camden pair tops leaderboard at Red Ryder Cup

The Camden County High duo of Georgia Blount and Sarah Beth Wilson fired a 66 last Saturday to win the Red Ryder Cup two-player scramble at Sanctuary Golf Club.
