Boys netters win three; girls get first victory

Three matches between Monday and last week meant three wins for the Camden County High boys tennis ’Cats, and a victory, loss and a rare tie for the girls. Camden swept host Savannah Christian Feb. 7, then split the Region 1-7A openers last Friday with visiting Lowndes.

’Cat wrestlers romp to 1-7A traditional crown

Wrestlers at the Region 1-7A traditional tournament at Lowndes last Saturday needed a top-four finish in their weight classes to progress to sectionals. If a top-two placement was required, Camden County still would have qualified at all 14 weights.

Camden, Valdosta split key region hoops twinbill

The battle for the top seeds and home-court advantage for both the boys and girls Region 1-7A basketball tournaments continued after Camden County’s home split with Valdosta last Saturday. The No. 1 boys seed hosts the boys tourney, and the top girls seed hosts the girls tourney.

CCHS Gymcats win opening meet

Alyssa Thompson placed second in the all-around and Jamie Walker third as the Camden County High Gymcats won their opening meet last Saturday in Milledgeville.  CCHS posted a 97 team score as Thompson was the runner-up for both the bars (8.0) and vault (8.5). She also got a 7.

CCHS track and field opens season Saturday

Participation hovers around triple figures for the Camden County High track and field program, taking the starting blocks under first-year head coach Bill Forman.  “Early in the season, all we’re trying to do is build a foundation,” he said. “I love the way they work.
