The city of Fernandina Beach is working to fund dredging of the Fernandina Harbor Marina through grants from the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND), grant administrator Lorelei Jacobs told the Marina Advisory Board this week.

A charter school could soon be arriving in Nassau County. During the Nassau County School Board’s Feb. 11 meeting, Superintendent Kathy Burns announced the school district had an application for a charter school. San Jose Early College at Nassau applied to open a charter school in August 2022.

The city of Fernandina Beach filed a lawsuit against CPH Engineering, claiming the company built the road too low, causing water to damage the street. CPH offered the city $80,000 in cash and in-kind services to settle the matter, which the City Commission rejected.

The Island Art Association announced winners of its annual Nassau County High Schools art show.  A celebration of all participants was Feb. 9, at which time winners received awards, including 16 honorable mention awards.
