Carol was born in Tampa, Florida, to Gene and Marie (Williams) Quattlebaum on Nov. 17, 1947, and was the second of three children.

She was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Hartford, Alabama, to the late Willie Shoffnor Deal and Johnnie May Doswell Deal. She worked for many years at Walmart in Kingsland.
