Christopher William Burney, at the age of 48 from Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, due to a short illness. He leaves behind his loving wife, Jennifer Burney, and his son, Seth, and his loving mother, Nancy Burney of St. Marys.

Dixie Lee Woods Griffis, 85, of Woodbine passed away Dec. 30, 2020, at her residence. Funeral services were held from the gravesite at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Colesburg Cemetery with Pastor Bill Alderman officiating and Brantley Griffis, Dr.

Velta Frances Sorrell, 82, who proudly answered to the title Memaw, peacefully departed this earth on the evening of Dec. 30, 2020, at her residence surrounded by loved ones.  Velta battled Alzheimer’s but never stopped smiling.

Donna Ruth (Taylor) Hanyecz passed from this life in the early hours of Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at the Acosta-Rua Center for Caring Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida.  Donna was born on Jan. 29, 1944, in Camden, New Jersey, to Ruth D (Winnemore) and Paul I Taylor.

Melody “Lynn” Beylotte Johnson, 65, of Woodbine passed away Dec. 24, 2020, at her home under the care of Heartland Hospice. Melody was born June 13, 1955, in Charleston, South Carolina, to Frank Joseph and Mary Alice Gehlken Beylotte.

Carol Williford Lefebvre passed away Dec. 26, 2020, in St. Marys after a brief illness.  She was the wife of Ronald C. Lefebvre and the daughter of the late James David and Lena Wright Williford, born Sept. 22, 1932, in Sycamore Georgia. She was a member of the St.

Yvonne Fennell Waye, 63, of Kingsland transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus. Yvonne was born on Aug. 22, 1957, in Ahoskie, North Carolina, to Willie C. Fennell and Ruth Hardy Fennell.

Herman Fredrick “Freddie” Watson Jr., 79, of Waynesville passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 22, 2020, at his residence after a short illness. Born in Kenansville, North Carolina, his parents were Herman Watson Sr. and Edna Earl Melvin Kennison.

Phyllis Amelia (Allen) Holden of Jacksonville, Florida, 74, cherished mother and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on Dec. 19, 2020. Phyllis was surrounded by her loving family after a courageous yearlong battle with late-diagnosed grade IV glioblastoma.
